Anderson Gund III

Mr. Anderson Gund III (Andy) as he was fondly called, passed away after a short illness on June 23, 2020 at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas NV. Andy was born on November 18,1962 in Kalamazoo MI to the proud parents of Anderson Gund Jr. and Nellie Jean Gund. They were often called “The Gund Boys” on Park St. Andy graduated from Loy Norrix High School, Kalamazoo MI in 1981. He enjoyed shop class and he later became a “Jack of all Trades”. He could fix anything and if he didn’t know how he wouldn’t stop until he figured it out. He worked on many homes State to State and he soon became well known as “Handy Andy”. Andy lived in Kalamazoo MI for most of his childhood life. He loved to travel and would often surprise family and friends with a visit wherever they lived. He later moved to Shaw MS where his parents retired. It was there that he met his wife Brenda in Louisville MS. He had recently moved to Las Vegas NV and was very happy to be close to his oldest daughter Andrea, which he fondly called his “MooMoo”. He loved fishing and was so excited to fish on Lake Mead in Nevada. Later in Andy’s adult life he professed Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Galilee Baptist Church in Kalamazoo MI. Throughout his travels he would not hesitate to find a church to be involved in and he loved to fellowship. He loved church and was recently looking for a new church home in Las Vegas. Andy was greatly loved by many and he loved many, he had a multitude of friends and he never met a stranger. He especially took pride in helping the elderly. He would often say, “You Better Listen” because they know what they’re talking about. He met many people from the East to West and from the North to the South. He never let the grass grow under his feet and was always on the move. Andy was preceded in death by his father Anderson Gund Jr., Shaw MS and his sister Velma Mitchell-Collins, Kalamazoo MI. Leaving behind to cherish his precious memories, his loving mother Nellie Jean Gund, Shaw MS, his wife Brenda Eiland-Gund, Louisville MS and in this union three children were born, Jeanna Gund, Louisville MS, twin Sons Anderson Gund IV and Anthony (Tashmia) Gund both of Douglasville GA. Andy was also blessed to have five other children, two sons, Andrew Stafford, Detroit MI and Hassan Gund, Phoenix AZ, three daughters Andrea (JeRon) Johnson of Las Vegas NV, Ashley Gund, Kalamazoo MI and Crystal Jackson, Jackson MS. Five brothers, Alan (Karen) Mitchell Kalamazoo MI, Cornelius(Keshone) Gund of Anniston AL, A.J. Gund, Atlanta GA, Arthur Gund and Jessie Gund, Shaw MS and sister Valerie Mitchell, Kalamazoo MI. Andy had a host of grandchildren, when he moved to Las Vegas he was able to spend time with some of them and was very happy to take them fishing at Lake Mead and to visit in California. He also leaves to cherish his memories nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special niece Shiela Mitchell whom he loved dearly and would be the first person he would look for when he visited Kalamazoo.
