Annie W Washington

On June 8, 1928 Annie Washington loving know as "Madea" was born to Arthur Tolbert and Anna May Brandyberg, in Pattison, Texas, she spent her early years there and attended Praire View College. In 1957 she move to Las Vegas, Nevada where she found gainful employment on the Las Vegas Strip at several local casinos. In the early 1980's she worked at Palms Morturay as an Insurance Salesman, where she began to excel at her craft and eventually becoming the top Salesman there, she was responsible for signing up most of the Westside of Las Vegas. Annie was a loving wife and mother, on June 21, 1961 she married Alexander Washington. Family and the love for children were her top priorities, she was blessed with three beautiful daughters, Billie McCurdy, Roma Coleman, and Donnielle Washington. Her love for children and those who needed help led her to the path of Foster Parenting, she elected to give up working to dedicate herself to being a full time Foster Parent, this choice opened up her heart and home to Foster Children for over 20 years. The impact of this decision made life long bonds and connections, her Foster Children kept in touch with her until the very end. Madea believed that all things can be done through Christ, this was a faith she instilled in her children, foster children, grandchildren and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Love was conveyed by her in action, by encouragement, forgiveness, an open giving heart. Annie Washington was a true Woman of God, strong in faith from an early age. She joined and attended Progressive Church of God in Christian Las Vegas, Nevada, where she was a member for over 38 years. Her faith and witness extended to her family, loved ones and all who ever heard her burning, praising testimonies. The life she led was a living epistle of generosity, servitude and the faith of redemption. Her Parents, Arthur Tolbert and Anna May Brandberg both preceded her in death, her husband Alexander Washington also preceded her in death, her two brothers Clifford Tolbert and Emmit Tolbert both preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters and son-in-laws, Billie and William McCurdy, Roma and John Coleman Sr., Donnielle Washington, 13 grandchildren, 40 Great-grandchildren, 25 Great-great grandchildren. There are many words to describe Annie "Madea" Washington, loving, compassionate, forgiving, generous, funny, encouraging but God Has Called her servant.
