Bakita Billy Mboy

Bakita Mboy the first grandchild to Feridinad Elissa Mabu and Habiba Mama Pkereke was born on September 15, 1964, the eldest of eight children to Tartizio Babily Nvutu and Eva Ferdinand Mabu. After completing high school Bakita became a nurse at Wau Civil Hospital. During the civil war between South and North Sudan, Bakita relocated with her siblings and their mom to Khartoum, where she spent much of her adult life. There, she continued her nursing career at Khartoum Teaching Hospital, where she exemplified compassion and unwavering care for her patients. Her dedication to her profession and the impact she had on those she cared for will always be remembered. In 1995, faced with the escalating violence of the civil war, Bakita made the difficult decision to flee to Egypt, bringing her beloved children—Mark, Ghada, Evelyn, and Joseph—and her younger brother, Hassan—along with her. Her bravery during this challenging time is a testament to her strength as a mother, as she selflessly ensured the safety and well-being of her family. Her role as a mother was central to her life, and her love and sacrifice for her children were boundless. After three transformative years in Egypt, Bakita embraced a new beginning when she migrated to the United States under the United Nations resettlement program in 1998. Shortly after, Bakita's family celebrated the arrival of another daughter, Roseanne, which brought further joy to her life. As we reflect on her life, it is impossible not to feel a profound sense of loss. Bakita was indeed a ray of sunshine. Her vibrant and cheerful nature, her unique ability to brighten any room she entered, and her infectious humor brought warmth and joy to those around her. As the family's beloved comedian, she brought laughter and joy to those around her, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere and forming bonds everyone will treasure. Bakita's loving spirit and infectious humor could turn even the dullest moments into cherished memories. Bakita will be remembered fondly and missed deeply, particularly for her ability to uplift those around her with her jokes and spontaneous, comical comments. Her legacy of kindness and laughter will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Bakita's life was a remarkable journey marked by both joy and sorrow. She was predeceased by her father, Tartizio Babily, and her oldest son, Mark John. However, she is survived by her children, Ghada, Evelyn, Joseph, and Roseanne; her mother, Eva Ferdinand; and her siblings Nawal, Jacelin, Ieda, Dijango, Viola, Sultana, and Nelly. Bakita is also lovingly remembered by her 15 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and love, ensuring that her memory lives on in our hearts.
