James Brown

James was born the 3rd of three children to the late James and Mary Brown on October 30, 1930 in Natchez, LA, James attended Madera Union High School in Madera, Ca. After graduating high school, James served in the Army from 1952-1954 in Germany, his duties were Infantry, Squad Leader, and Sergeant. After retiring from the Army, James worked as a farmer and at the VA hospital. In May of 1962 James met Ruth and moved to Las Vegas, together they shared five children and six from a previous marriage. James worked as a dedicated and faithful Sky Cap for the LV McCarran Airport. After serving 40 years, James retired in 2006. James passion was Health and Wellness, he exemplified that with taking care of his wife. After 56 years, of matrimony bliss, James beloved Ruth passed on February 13, 2019. This was a very difficult time for James, he and Ruth had shared countless days and hours caring, uplifting, and spending quality time with each other. James was a humble, quiet and soft-spoken man who adored all his children. James loved his children and their friends, when James worked at the McCarran Airport, at the end of his shift, he would save his change from tips, come home and the children from the neighborhood would line up to help him with groceries to receive some change and to receive their treat which was ice cream from the ice cream truck. James would buy every child that was present an ice cream, this was something that the children from Carey Arms Apartments look forward to daily. Beginning in March 2017, James attended New light MBC on and off under the leadership of Bishop Adam Addison. Due to his own personal health concerns and those of his late wife, Ruth Brown, James was not able to be active however, he attended when he could. During James’ health struggles, he experienced many trials and tribulations however, he always thanked God for keeping him and enjoyed the days that were ahead of him. After a long bout with his health, James passed away Monday, February 03, 2020 355 days after the passing of his longtime companion, friend, wife Ruth Brown at the age of 89. James is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Brown, wife 56 years Ruth Brown, four sons, Samuel Fitzgerald, Terry James Brown, Leroy Brown, Ricky Brown and daughter Bonnie Brown, 1 brother Jessie and sister Dorothy. James leaves to cherish his memories: 6 children, two daughters Josette Brown- Clemons (Willie James) Darlene Brown, four sons Foley Johnson, , James Brown, Andre Brown, and Alexander Brown (Shameka) and 50 grandchildren He is survived by one brother-in-law Donald Richards and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
