Johnny Wilbert Johnson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on June 3, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Johnny was one of nine children born to Earlean and Willie Johnson Sr. He grew up in New Orleans and Donaldsonville, Louisiana. At the age of 15 he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and graduated from Western High School. He developed a love for learning and an early interest in martial arts, a passion he carried throughout his life. Also, known as the Monte Carlo Kid on the Citizens Band (CB Radio). Johnny married his first wife, Helen Marks, together they welcomed six children; James Johnson, Danette Johnson, April Milton, Reginald Johnson, Shawn Johnson, and Kim Johnson. Though their marriage ended, Johnny remained a devoted father, always prioritizing his children’s well-being and happiness. In 1986, Johnny found love again with Denise Brown. They married on August 12, 1992. Through this marriage, he joyfully welcomed three more children into his life; Katrina Brown, Phlicia Keaton, and Maurice Brown. Johnny and Denise shared a deep bond, built on mutual respect and love, they spent many happy years together. Johnny had a long and fulfilling career as a Bellman at The Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked for 17 years before retiring in 2004 at the age of 60. Known for his friendly demeanor and strong work ethic, Johnny was a familiar and beloved figure at The Mirage, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. A man of strong faith, Johnny was an active member of Tried Stone Baptist Church, where he found solace and community. He was a God-fearing man who lived his life with integrity and compassion, and his faith was a guiding light throughout his life. Johnny had a wide range of interests. He loved taking his boat out for fishing trips and he was an avid fan of Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, and country westerns. In his younger years, Johnny enjoyed exercising and practicing martial arts. He was also a skilled player of dominoes, spades, rummy 1500, and tunk, often enjoying friendly games with family and friends. His love for travel allowed him to see the world, creating many cherished memories. Johnny is survived by his loving wife; Denise Johnson, his children; James, Danette, April (Jerome), Reginald (Lady), Shawn, Kim, Katrina, Phlicia (Kenny), and Maurice (Zandra), his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and a plethora of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Earlean and Willie Johnson Sr., his brothers; Willie Johnson Jr., George Johnson, Joe Howard, Ernest Johnson, and James Johnson, and his sisters; Earline Johnson, Mercedes Davis, and Mary Helen Johnson. Johnny will always be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering faith, and love for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
