Josephine Gaston Jefferson

Evangelist Josephine Gaston Jefferson was born on July 29, 1946, in Lake Providence, Louisiana to the late Jesse T. Gaston Sr. and Overseer Almary Gaston. Josephine departed this life in the early morning of March 14, 2020. Josephine received her education through the Clark County School District and earned her diploma in 1964, graduating from Western High School. Josephine worked as a blackjack dealer for many years. She worked at the Frontier Hotel, State of Nevada Consumer Affairs, Ronnie O’s, Silver State Disposal and State of Nevada Division of Welfare. She also worked for the Clark County School District as a Teacher’s Assistant and First Aid Safety Assistant (FASA) and retired in 2009. Josephine met and married Elijah Jefferson on April 15, 1998, spending 19 years devoted in Holy Matrimony until his passing on December 8, 2017. Evangelist Josephine Gaston Jefferson accepted Christ as her personal savior at the Rose Hill Baptist Church in Lake Providence, Louisiana under the leadership of the late Pastor T.H. Turner at a very early age. After moving to Las Vegas, Nevada with her family, Evangelist Gaston Jefferson joined the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor E.C. Kline. She also attended Alpha & Omega Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Frank Gaston from 1985 to 1989. She began attending Miracle Faith Temple in 1989 until 1997 under the leadership of Bishop Ernest Jefferson. In 1997 Miracle Faith Temple’s name was changed to Anointed Tabernacle Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Pastor Almary Gaston. Evangelist Jefferson was the Head Evangelist, served on the Board of Trustee and church treasurer all at Anointed Tabernacle for many years. Josephine was preceded in death by her Husband: Elijah Jefferson, Father: Jesse T. Gaston Sr. Mother: Overseer Almary Gaston. Eight (8) Sisters: Carrie Hefner, Mary Smith, Helen Gaston, Gloria Jean Gaston, Georgia Jimerson, Joe Ann Gaston, Alberteen Gaston and Mary Ann Gaston. Two (2) Brothers: Frank Jefferson and Richard Gaston Sr. Grandparents: Albert and Josephine Winbush and Jabbo Threats. Three (3) Children: Toyce Ann Gaston, Demario Tramaine Gaston and Michelle Dionne Johnson. Godchildren: Billy and Zola Washington. Josephine leaves to cherish her memories Two (2) Daughters: Wanda Gaston (Reggie) and Claudia (Tyrone) Smith both of Las Vegas, NV. Two (2) Sons: Robert (Desreie) Gaston and Michael Johnson (Blenda). Eight (8) Sisters: Jessie Mae (William) Neal, Geraldine Gaston, Lola Gaston, Alice (Benny) Williams, Valerie Jackson, Latasha (Nicholas) Eagles and Victoria Sanders all of Las Vegas, NV. Mary Ann (Jake) Potts of Dallas, TX. Six (6) Brothers: Dr. Major (Charlie) Wooten of Los Angeles, CA. Curtis Davis of Abilene, TX. Jesse (Nytisha) Gaston Jr., Ronnie (Lisa) Gaston, Ronnie Jackson and Jesse Jackson all of Las Vegas, NV. Godchildren: Lisa Hicks, Amber and Annie Ruth Washington. Fifteen (15) Grandchildren, Three (3) Great Grandchildren. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and her Anointed Tabernacle Church Family.
