Wilma Jean Thomas

REFLECTIONS OF LIFE Wilma Jean Thomas was born to Vernon Russell Sr. and Wilma L. Russell on March 3, 1947 in Bryan, Texas. Was the Eldest of seven children. Wilma Jean accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Hillsboro, Texas. The Russell Family moved to California in 1963. She attended High School at Fremont School. After high school she continued her education as a Licensed Private Duty Nurse in Los Angeles, CA and earned a Cosmetology License in Las Vegas, Nevada. As an entrepreneur, she owned and operated "Serious Hair Activity, and Fancy Leg Boutique" in Las Vegas. Her love for learning continued as she received a Culinary Certification, and was later promoted to Room Service Captain at Harrah's Hotel and Casino of Las Vegas as she later retired. Throughout Wilma Jean's lifetime, she continously shared resources with others. Wilma Jean was the Parent of Kendra Russell, her eldest child. As time passed, she met and later married James Burke; and to this union a Son, Shannon Burke was born and the union ended, and she later married Billy Thomas of Las Vegas. After Wilma Jean Thomas retired from Harrah's, she decided to foster children and she received a Roster Parenting License and Certification. Because of her exemplary work in fostering children. Wilma Jean received a Proclamation from the Board of Commissioners of Clark County Nevada. Wilma Jean Thomas was preceded in death by her Father, Vernon Russell Sr., Two Brothers, Elmer Louis Russell, Tommie Russell, and one Sister Edith Marie Russell, and her late husband Billy Thomas. Her memory will be cherished by her Mother, Wilma L. Russell of Las Vegas, NV, two Brothers, Vernon Russell, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, and Kenneth L. Russell, Sr. of Apple Valley, CA., one Sister, Carolyn Russell of Bellflower, CA, One Daughter, Kendra Russell of Victorville, CA, two Sons, Shannon Burke, and Ty Russell Thomas of Las Vegas, Nevada, Daughter-in-law, Rhonda Burke, Five Grandchildren, Brandy Russell, Te'Aira Burke, Ta'Shae Burke, Shannon Burke, Skylar Burke, and One Great-granddaughter, Sheyenne Young, and other host of relatives and friends. Wilma Jean Thomas will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
