Charlie Edwards Jr.

Life Reflections Mr. Charlie Edwards, son of the late Charles T. Edwards and Ida Mae Edwards, was born on December 12, 1934 in Grenada, Mississippi. He was the oldest of 14 children. Charlie was raised in the church; he grew up in a Christian home where he was instilled with Godly values. In his younger years, he enjoyed carpentry and building, which was a trade he learned from his father, Charlie T. Edwards. Charlie attended his elementary and middle school years in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from high school, Charlie enlisted in the United States Army, where he served from 1957 - 1959. Charlie moved to Los Angeles, California in 1962. He worked for Arco Refinery for 19 years before happily retiring. Charlie met and married Ms. Jerrstine “Tina” Roberts and from their union brought forth four children, one daughter, Sherry Denise Edwards (preceded him in death) and three sons, Christopher Ryan Edwards, Rance Edwards, and Randy Dervon Edwards. Prior to their union Charlie had 2 children from a previous relationship, Stevan McKinney and Lisa Boyd. Tina had 3 children from a previous marriage, Louis Roberts, Aretha Roberts-Cannon and Valerie Allen-Winston. Charlie was a very outgoing and friendly person. Wherever he went, he brought laughter and joy to many. He loved involving people in the discussions of current events, history (especially American and African American history), and Biblical facts. He enjoyed ministering to family and friends and eating a good meal with his family. Charlie frequently visited his neighborhood donut shop and was well known no matter what city/state he lived in. Charlie highly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling to their basketball games and other extracurricular events. On December 21, 2020, Charlie was called home to live eternally with God, our Father. He leaves to cherish and celebrate precious memories his devoted wife, Tina Edwards, his seven (7) children, Christopher, Rance, Randy, Louis, Aretha, Valerie, and Steven; Nineteen (19) grandchildren, Donte Moss, LaSteven McKinney, Vonkesha Brown, Shauntel Thomas, Latisha Roberts, Shakira Roberts, Katia Winston, Jamelle Winston, Kanesha Winston, Kenyatta Winston (preceded him in death), Jamal Winston, Jaray Winston, Keyshawn Winston, Christopher Edwards Jr., Denise Edwards, Joseph Edwards, Joell Edwards, Monique Lefridge, Zuri Cannon, and Zebari Cannon; Six (6) great-granchildren, Donte Moss Jr., Farrae Moss, and Tamari Hill, Davon Brown, Christopher Brown,Star Brown and a host of other loved ones, family and friends.
