I found out that there weren't too many limitations if I did it my way. - Johnny Cash John Alfred Korbe, Jr. February 13, 1942 – July 1, 2026 John Alfred Korbe, Jr., 84, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. John was born on February 13, 1942, in Sterling, Colorado, to John Korbe, Sr. and Katherine Nab Korbe. Throughout his life, he lived in Colorado, California, and Nevada before making Las Vegas his home. John worked as a water treatment operator until his retirement. He was respected for his strong work ethic, determination, and remarkable ability to solve problems. A true craftsman, John could build, repair, or restore almost anything. Whether working with wood, metal, plastic, or materials saved for future projects, he found purpose and satisfaction in creating something useful and beautiful. John enjoyed fishing, playing Keno, and collecting model cars, trucks, and antique vehicles. He spent countless hours designing, restoring, and displaying his collections, taking great pride in the detailed scenes and handcrafted displays he created. From miniature semi-trucks and classic automobiles to horse-drawn wagons, holiday displays, and intricate showcases, his creativity and craftsmanship brought joy to family and visitors alike. In addition to his collections, John was an accomplished woodworker who built beautiful furniture pieces for his home and family. His handcrafted cedar chests, dressers, tables, cabinets, and other custom pieces reflected both his talent and his pride in creating things that would last for generations. John possessed a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his quick wit, practical advice, and willingness to help others. Family and friends could always count on him for guidance, encouragement, or help fixing whatever needed repair. His generosity and kindness touched many lives. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Korbe, Sr. and Katherine Nab Korbe; four brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Korbe; his children, Allen Korbe of Las Vegas, Nevada, Debra Steiner of Paramount, California, and Lisa Korbe of Lago Vista, Texas. He is also survived by his sisters, Anna Sparhawk of Drain, Oregon, Mary Larsen of Rifle, Colorado, and Carolyn Smith of Sterling, Colorado; and by his brother, Robert Korbe of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. John leaves behind six grandchildren: Sara Gilbert, Michael Korbe, Ann Marie Archer, Heather Alber, Garett Steiner, and Dillon Plotner. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Matthew Gilbert, Katelyn Gilbert, Emerson Martinez, Riley Korbe, Olivia Archer, Lila Archer, and Emilia Archer. John will be remembered for his humor, his generosity, his creativity, and his remarkable ability to fix whatever was broken. He taught his family the value of hard work, perseverance, and helping others. His wisdom, craftsmanship, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. “He had a wonderful sense of humor, was always willing to help others, and always found a way to fix whatever was broken.”
