Juanita W. Walker

Reflections of Life Juanita Walker was born September 25, 1934, to Wilson Willis and Esther Armstrong in Homer, Louisiana. They both preceded her in death. Juanita was reared by her late grandparents, George Armstrong, Sr. and Annie Armstrong in Camden, Arkansas. Juanita accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at an early age in Camden, Arkansas. Juanita relocated with her brother Robert to Berkley, California, where she was reunited with her mother. While in Berkley, Juanita met the love of her life, Eldrig Walker and was married December 12, 1955. To this union, six children were born, four sons and two daughters. Juanita relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1953 where she united with the Second Baptist Church Family under the leadership of the late Rev. V.C.L. Coleman. Juanita worked faithfully while at Second Baptist Church. She was a dedicated choir member. She sang in the choir until her health failed because then she was unable to stand. Juanita also served as President of the Mission Ministry. She later served with the Mother’s Ministry. In the 70’s and 80’s, she travelled the country attending the National Baptist Convention. Juanita loved her family dearly and helped taking care of them. She was always adopting someone’s child or helped in raising them. Juanita worked as a Guest Room Attendant in various hotels until she began working for the Clark County School District. With the School District, she was a Special Aide Bus Driver for over 15 years until she retired. On March 9, 2020 at 7:16 a.m., Juanita Walker earned her reward from her labor and went to take her rest. Juanita’s memory will be forever cherished and celebrated by her five children; Michael Ray Walker, Eldrig Walker Jr., Frederick Lee Walker, Paris Evette Brown and Stacy Rochelle Walker. Thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three brothers; Robert Willis, Jesse Earl Willis, Deotis (Gwen) Willis and one sister Diana (Ronald) Hodges, two brothers-in-law; Charles J. Gidron and Carl Gidron, and two sisters-in- law; Carla (Pastor Wayne) Arnold and Brenda Gidron. Two uncles; Sammie Armstrong and Billie Armstrong., a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Juanita also leaves to cherish her memory, her prayer partner Marrie Pullens, longtime friend Juanita Fuller, her care giver Rochelle Landers and her beloved Second Baptist Church family. Juanita will be joining her loved ones gone on before her; her parents Wilson Willis and Esther Willis McKinney, her grandparents George and Annie Armstrong, son Kenneth Ray Walker, sister Suddie Mae Mitchell, two brothers, Leodis Willis and Joe T. Willis.
