Leslie James Virgil Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Obituary Leslie James Virgil Sr., known as LJ to family and friends, was born September 7, 1940 to the late Elijah and Mary Foley, in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Leslie accepted Christ in September of 1959 at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church in Newellton, Louisiana, under the leadership of Reverend HY Taylor. He was amongst the first graduating class(1959) of Rosenwald High School located in St. Joseph, Louisiana. Leslie afterwards moved to Las Vegas in the 1960’s. In the 1980’s he became a skycap for Delta Airlines where he later retired. He met and fell in love with Yolanda Huntington. The two were married on August 13, 1998. They shared a beautiful life together until her passing in July of 2015. “I LOVE this man with my soul.” is how Yolanda described her love for Leslie in a facebook post. Leslie joined The Greater Mt. Sinai Missionary Recruiting Ministries Inc., under the leadership of Bishop Dr. S.S. Rogers. As an active member, he participated in the choir and served on the deacon board ministry. Leslie loved his church family and always enjoyed attending worship services. Preceding Leslie in death is his wife, Yolanda Virgil, father Elijah Virgil, mother Mary Foley, sons Leslie Wesley and Vernon T Virgil, six brothers, and four sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Gerald Wesley, Louisiana, Susan Brown of Joplin, MO, Tracy Virgil, Patrice Virgil, Justin Virgil, Darren Dismuke all of Las Vegas, NV, Charles Fields of CA, Debra Greene. A special niece, Lomard Rimmey, Newellton, LA. Host of step children,grandchildren, great grandchildren, Nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
